So, if for once you thought that the Snipers hit the road all those months just for the sake of it, then you are mistaken. Victory was what we wanted, and so we went for it. When speaking about Victory, then maybe one should read the word in capital letters to fully tell the kind of Victory we achieved.
It begun with a superb performance from the Snipers against the hosts (Meru MTC), whom even with much experience than our team in this kind of games, we outclassed and outdid them, hitting then not once...and not twice...but thrice to seal a victory of 3-0, against the self-proclaimed champions. All goals were scored by our number one hit-man, Abbas, in what many will call a fantastic hattrick, for a fantastic players.
As if that was not enough, The Snipers Ladies team follows suit and hit Embu MTC hockey team 3-1, with the solitary goal for the rival team seeming t have been hit way behind the D-line. Even so, no other mistake was made as the Ladies did what The Snipers are meant to do, and won the game topping the qualifiers as number one.
Since the ladies had only two teams in the zonal, they both qualified so no second game was needed for them. As for the Men Team, The Snipers had to play Embu to determine which two teams qualified to the regionals.
If only KMTC Embu hockey team knew what awaited them against The Snipers, then it would have been of great importance to avoid the fixture all the same. 7-1 was the final score, with a chain of several other misses been witness in the interval which would have told a very DIFFERENT story in the long run. The goals came left and right, with Peter and on-sub Kamah also getting their name onto the score sheet. (of course the usual suspects got the other five)
Now we have crossed one hurdle, and we are aware of the massive challenge that lies ahead. Our Mentality is firm and stable, and we are ready for whoever that comes our way. The Regional games are scheduled for the end of this month, and we have about one month or so to heal our injuries and get back to the pitch for usual training.
